September 6 & 7 at the Giles County Rescue squad building in Pearisburg. Participants must register by calling the Giles County Sheriff’s office at 540-921-3842. Each class is limited to 30 students. There will be only one class remaining which will be conducted on October 11 & 12. First time hunters between the age of 12-15 are required to successfully complete this class prior to their application for a hunter’s license. |

Margaret Beeks Elementary School, the Town of Blacksburg, and VA Tech have partnered together to provide family friendly tailgating for most VA TECH football games starting with the September 6th game. The tailgating will be held at MBE and will include food and fun for families. There will be inflatables, games for kids, and pizza, cotton candy, popcorn, and other goodies. The cost is $5 to park as well as a charge for food and games. Alcohol is not allowed on MBE grounds. |

THE SHAWSVILLE CONGREGATIONAL HOLINESS CHURCH IS HAVING THEIR VERY 1ST ANNUAL JUDGED CAR & MOTORCYCLE SHOW ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 6, 2008 FROM 10AM TO 4PM AT OUR CHURCH ON ALLEGHANY SPRINGS ROAD IN SHAWSVILLE. WE WILL BE AWARDING APPROX 50 TROPHIES AT THIS SHOW AND THE REGISTRATION FEE IS ONLY $5.00 PER ENTRY. ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TOWARD THE YOUTH DEPARTMENT AT OUR CHURCH. WE WILL HAVE THE CARS AND MOTORCYCLES BROKEN UP INTO CLASSES IN WHICH THE TOP OF EACH CLASS WILL BE AWARDED A TROPHY ABD WE ALSO HAVE A BEST OF SHOW FOR CAR AND MOTORCYCLE. WE WILL ALSO HAVE A JUDGED DESSERT BAKE-OFF THAT DAY IN WHICH SOME LUCKY PERSON CAN WIN A TROPHY FOR THEIR HOM MADE DESSERT. SO MEN AND WOMEN PLEASE BRING A HOME MADE DESSERT WITH YOU. WE WILL ALSO HAVE FOOD INCLUDING HOT DOGS, HAMBURGERS, MILKSHAKES, SNOW CONES ETC. AND WE WILL EVEN HAVE WAITRESSES TO BRING YOU YOUR FOOD IF YOU CHOOSE. IT DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THAT!!! WE WILL HAVE MUSIC AND ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN SO PLEASE COME ON OUT AND BRING YOUR CAR OR MOTORCYCLE (NEW OR OLD) AND SPEND THE DAY WITH US!!! |
